The Lance: A Year in the Paper
1963 was a significant year for people across the globe, and this was no exception for the University of Windsor. This was a year for the university that exemplified growth and development, both in regards to its student body and its physical campus.
Along with these expansions, the university also reinvented itself through its title. It went from Assumption University to the University of Windsor at the beginning of the fall semester in September 1963.
We can see the development of student life on campus through the Lance, the University of Windsor's campus newspaper. This is an important resource because it provides information on all aspects of campus life and academia from a student perspective, which really allows us to see what the University of Windsor was like during this period.
Among the other changes during 1963, The Lance newspaper also saw change, as it shifted from being printed in black and white to being a colour publication.
