Genealogy of a Parish: The 19th Century Records of St. John's Anglican Church

Welcome! Ahead you will find a ‘genealogy’ of the St. John’s Anglican Church community. Specifically, the exhibit examines both the unique individuals who were connected to the church in the mid-19th century and the changing demographic trends within the broader church community over time. The primary sources in which this exhibit draws its information upon are the Marriage, Baptism, and Burial records available from The University of Windsor Leddy Library Rare Books and Special Collections. In highlighting particular individuals, this exhibit presents the church as a microcosm of the Anglican community within the Detroit River region. Additionally, in highlighting the histories of these individuals, this exhibit illustrates the connections these persons had to each other as well as to the church itself. Enjoy!
